Description
Veterans Waterfront Park is located on the shores of Lake Huron, just west of the Port Austin Harbor in the Village of Port Austin.
The first stage, the creation of a Veterans Memorial, was completed and dedicated in May 2008. The park includes a public beach, playground area, a 1/2 mile long handicap-accessible walkway on the break wall, benches, picnic tables and grills.
Future development includes a new community & visitor’s center, parking area, a large pavilion, a volleyball area, and new bathroom facilities. DNR improvements at the harbor include utility upgrades and construction of floating docks.
