Breaking the Frame: How Women Changed Art History
Please join us in celebration of International Women’s Day at the Carnegie Museum for a lecture by Executive Director Regina Schreck. We will explore how women
artists were excluded from the art historical canon due to restrictive social norms, limited access to
training, and institutional bias that favored male creators. Their contributions were often dismissed,
attributed to male relatives, or omitted entirely from scholarly narratives and museum collections. Despite
these barriers, women continued to create, exhibit, and advocate for their work.
Complimentary appetizers and a gift card will be drawn for one guest.
