It is time to get your tickets for the Lexington Arts Council’s 2024 Bach Festival.
In our 24th year, musicians from around the United States will present live
classical music in our community. This unique festival event features gifted
musicians from across the United States. Arriving the week of the festival,
participating in an intense rehearsal schedule and presenting concerts that will
move and inspire the audience. The annual Lexington Bach Festival, a five days-
long opportunity, features works by Henry Purcell, Ralph Vaughan Williams,
Mozart, Beethoven, and of course, J. S. Bach.

This year’s festival opens at 7 pm. Wednesday September 11th with a free
concert of the Lexington Bach Festival String Quartet at St. Denis. On Thursday,
Port Huron’s St. Clair County Community College hosts two varied programs of
music performed by the Lexington Bach Festival String Quartet. One of
Thursday’s many pieces will be Brandenburg Concerto No. 4 in G major, BWV
1049. These free concerts are at noon and 7pm.

The 2024 Festival presents two amazing guest artists. Dynamic guitarist Colin
Davin performs 7pm Friday September 13, 2024. Among the many pieces he will
perform is his arrangement of Bach's Cello Suite No. 6, BWV1012. We then
have New Zealand born Geneva Lewis, international performing violin soloist and
chamber musician who will play Lark Ascending Saturday September 14 at 7pm
with the Lexington Bach Festival Orchestra. Geneva will play Beethoven's Violin
Concerto, on Sunday September 15 at 4:30, again with the orchestra. Friday,
Saturday and Sunday performances are at St Denis Catholic Church, Lexington.

Concert notes by Lexington Bach Festival Music Director John Thomas Dodson
will be presented 45 minutes prior to Saturday and Sundays performances.
Tickets for the orchestra presentations ($25) are available at Weekends in
Lexington and Weekends in the City, Port Huron or online.
