Description
The Tip of the Thumb Heritage Water Trail extends extends along three counties (Huron, Tuscola and Sanilac) – from Lexington, north around Port Sanilac and Harbor Beach, then up to the “tip of the thumb” at Port Austin, then southwest all the way to Quanicassee.
It stretches over 103 miles along Lake Huron's Shoreline with 34 launch/access points from Lexington to Quanicasee. Many interesting rock formations, caves and stacks can be found less than two miles both east and west of Port Austin’s Veterans Waterfront Park and harbor area. Other nearby launch sites include Grindstone City harbor, Jenks Park and Port Crescent State Park.
